5 Reasons Why Everyone Needs to Hire A Wedding Videographer

It’s the biggest day of your life.  The day you have dreamed about since you heard your first fairytale.  It is a big deal, isn’t it? It should be.  You deserve the best wedding day in the whole world.  What better way to remember it than reliving the special day through a film all about you and your favorite person?

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking, “Yeah! Why SHOULD I hire a videographer for my wedding day? My extended family can film our vows and first dance. iPhones are great quality, aren’t they? Plus, I wouldn’t have to pay them a penny.  That’s obviously the better option.” Better option? Good luck with that. Free services are great, but they are free services. Yes, I understand wedding videos can get expensive, that’s why I’ve narrowed down my long list of reasons why you need to invest in a wedding videographer. I think these five points just might convince you to choose professional experience over your great uncle’s iPhone video skills.

  1. It captures the real - There are moments, only when watching a video, when you just know it isn’t candid. There are some things that can’t be captured by a good quality photo. Video is real, it is raw, and it captures more emotion.  It is watching the tear roll down your mother's face during your first dance, that passionate kiss at the reception exit, laughing as you pick the cake out of each others' hair, or the way your flower girl skips down the aisle. It is those moments you don't get back.

  2. You won’t regret it - Your day flies by so fast, there are things you miss.  Your father choking up after he gives you away, your giggling and mingling guests, the anxious bridesmaids waiting to catch the bride’s bouquet, the getting ready footage the groom doesn’t get to see, and all the moments in between.   From one of my Facebook followers, "The only thing I regret about my wedding was not hiring a videographer. It was a perfect day, and I feel like even though I have the pictures, I wish I had videos to remember some of the special moments."

  3. The best way to remember - You’ll constantly be looking back on your special day.  How many times do you look at a picture and remember a story to go along with it?  Guess what?  Your video is the story.  From one of my clients, "A pictures worth 1,000 words, but my video makes me speechless!” I love video because it is like jumping into the past.

  4. Show your future family - I’m currently 22 years old and don’t have any children of my own, but I can tell you this: there is no greater gift to your future family.  I became a videographer because I fell in love with the moments captured on film as a kid.  I can’t thank my parents enough for filming all of those little moments of my life.  Imagine showing your wedding video to your kids one day.  I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who cries at the thought of showing my future kids the day that started our family.

  5. The greatest investment you’ll ever make - Simply put, it is a valuable investment.  Your photographers and videographers care about you.  They want to give you something worthwhile that captures the raw emotion of the day.  Videography is not just a job to me.  Videography is my passion and every opportunity I’m given to film is a blessing to me.  It truly is priceless, and so is your wedding video.

There are hundreds of talented videographers out there.  I can promise you that you’ll find one who fits within your budget and style.  You can’t put a price tag on the memories made on your wedding day.  I’m not sharing these thoughts with you because I want you to hire me, (there are countless names of incredible videographers I would refer anyone to) I am sharing this with you because it is important and I am passionate about it.

“...pictures don't capture everything. Videos capture people's laughs, conversations, and the real and raw feelings of the day. The video you shot for me is the only time I can truly relive my wedding day for 6 minutes and I would never trade my decision to have you film the day. Such a priceless treasure that we've already watched over and over. So I definitely wouldn't go without a videographer on the BIGGEST DAY my life, and I wouldn't trade having YOU be the one to film it. You are so talented and made it comfortable and natural and we are forever grateful for the beautiful way you captured our wedding day!” -Paige

“You may only have certain memories of your wedding through your video, it captures certain memories better, it's fun to have, you can actually see your reactions and it's just the best idea. I love my wedding video and watch it all the time!” -Hannah
